Steve Selcer, Oakwood's Senior Vice President and CFO, Honored at October 3 LABJ Event
LOS ANGELES (October 10, 2007) - Oakwood Worldwide, the leading global temporary housing and serviced apartment provider, today announced that its Senior Vice President and CFO, Steve Selcer, was named "CFO of the Year" at the Los Angeles Business Journal's October 3rd CEO conference, held at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.
With more than 3,000 associates, Oakwood is considered a large, privately-held company and Selcer won the CFO award in that category. The Los Angeles Business Journal also recognized a top CFO in each of the three other categories: publicly-traded companies; small, privately-held companies and not-for-profits.
Selcer was nominated by Chris Ahearn, Oakwood's SVP of Sales and Marketing, and his nomination was supported by Oakwood Founder and Chairman, Howard Ruby.
"Since he joined Oakwood in 2000, Steve Selcer has made significant contributions to the company in terms of process, innovation, financial management and operational excellence," Ruby says. "This award also speaks volumes about Oakwood's ability to attract top talent."
Another reason for Selcer's "CFO of the Year" selection is his versatility. His leadership and contributions go well beyond finance. When Oakwood had vacancies in key leadership roles, Selcer assumed additional responsibilities. He has led the Oakwood Home Services division, where he implemented inventory management and tracking, and managed procurement and staffing. Later, he provided management and oversight for Oakwood's Human Resources and Oakwood University teams.
