The following is an update to our prior notices around the series of "low intensity" explosions that occurred in Pune, India on the evening of July 31, 2012. We have been informed that the investigations into these incidents are ongoing and that no arrests have been made.

Public and private transportation is operating normally and offices, shopping malls and theaters are open. There is still an active high alert in the Koregaon Park area due to recent Independence Day and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

In order to provide heighted awareness during the 10-day 2012 Ganpati Festival which begins on September 19, the Oakwood Premier Pune and Oakwood Residence Naylor are maintaining increased security measures through September 29, 2012. This means that we are continuing to:

  • Increase security presence in all key areas of the property, including 24-hour monitoring of all security cameras inside and outside the property.
  • Brief department heads and associates to keep a watchful eye for any unusual activity in and around the property and to report any suspicious behavior to their respective department leaders.
  • Close basement parking access to all vehicles.
  • Advise guests of the situation and inform them of security arrangements that have been implemented at both properties.

If you have further questions about a current or future Oakwood stay in Pune, please contact the properties directly.
