Bill Maxwell joined Oakwood Worldwide in October 2008 as Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. He is responsible for leading the global human resources function, including leadership and organizational development, talent acquisition and retention, performance management, Associate engagement, rewards and recognition, benefits, internal communications, and human capital strategy. Most recently, Maxwell’s role has been expanded to include responsibility for Oakwood’s Worldwide Sales and Service Center.
Prior to Oakwood, Maxwell held the position of Executive Vice President, Global Human Resources, Diversity, and Managing Director of Global Performance Solutions for Cartus – the global leader in relocation. His experience also includes lead human resource positions with The Black & Decker Corporation in Canada, California, and Connecticut and with Applica, Inc.
Maxwell holds a Master’s of Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto. He is also a graduate of University of Western Ontario’s Executive Program and a graduate of the Strategic Human Resources Program from Harvard.
Maxwell is a speaker with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), HR.com, The Human Resource Association of New York, Mountain States Employers’ Council, National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC), Manhattanville College, and Fairfield University.
Maxwell, along with his HR team at Cartus, received two prestigious awards for their work with Cartus implementing work life programs -- the Innovative Practice Award from the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation and the Alliance for Work-Life Progress’ Ninth Annual Innovative Excellence Award for successfully implementing a Flexible Work Options program. In December 2006, Bill published an article entitled “Leaders Developing Leaders” in Human Resource Planning, The Journal of The Human Resource Planning Society.
Maxwell has also held several Chair and Board Member positions in community organizations, including: the Economic Development Commission for the Town of Ridgefield (CT); the Corporate Educational Advisory Board at Manhattanville College; the Danbury Schools Business Collaborative; and the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce. |
