Louisville is the 16th largest city in America. As a result, there are so many new and exciting stories to tell and information to impart about our new community. For instance, we now have grown from a city of 61 square miles to a diverse and vibrant community that encompasses more than 385 square miles, there are countless restaurants and shopping centers for you entertainment, it also includes such rich cultural assets as historic Churchill Downs, the world's most legendary racetrack and home to the most exciting two minutes in sports, the incomparable Kentucky Derby. With a population of nearly 700,000 residents is served by the largest public school system in the state (96,000 students) and a myriad of post-secondary educational opportunities, including the University of Louisville and Bellarmine University. UPS, Humana, Ford Motor Company and GE are among our largest employers and we also are home to such signature products as the Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat, Louisville Stoneware and, yes, KFC ,formerly Kentucky Fried Chicken. The Speed Art Museum is Kentucky’s oldest and largest art museum with over 12,000 pieces in its permanent collection. Its extensive collection spans 6,000 years, ranging from ancient Egyptian to contemporary art.
